&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial"&gt;Harsha Lake &amp;ndash; Capital City Rowing finished their season sixth overall nationally. Both the men&amp;rsquo;s first four and lightweight eight placed sixth in the finals at the 2008 US Rowing Youth National Championship in Cincinnati, Ohio.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial"&gt;The US Rowing Youth National Championships featured the top one hundred high school rowing programs from around the United States. Capital City Rowing (CCR), one of the top ten Florida rowing teams, beat out rival Winter Park High School Crew in their qualifying heat on day one.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial"&gt;Representing CCR in the men&amp;rsquo;s four was coxswain Andrew Becker and rowers John Sweat, Kenny Nickens, Jake Hadar, and Carson Jones and in the men&amp;rsquo;s lightweight eight was coxswain Emily Massey and rowers James Crowley, Nathan Rillstone, Robbie Vezina, Justin Jarrett, Stephen Brady, Gennaro Scibelli, Jon Gluesenkamp, and Danny Moerland.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial"&gt;On day one, the men&amp;rsquo;s lightweight eight shined as they placed second with a time of 6:15:80, only .00.12 seconds behind McCallie/GPS Crew and beat rival Winter Park High School, pushing them out of the semi-finals. The men&amp;rsquo;s lightweight eight went on to place second in the semi-finals (6:05:12) and in the finals finished sixth place overall with a time of 6:11:86 to return to Tallahassee with national bragging rights.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial"&gt;The Men&amp;rsquo;s four also did well with a third place win on day one in their qualifying heat in 6:51:71 minutes and placed third on day two in their semi-finals with a time of 6:36:21, qualifying to go straight to finals on day three. The men&amp;rsquo;s four also placed sixth overall in their final in 6:44:93 minutes earning them national recognition.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial"&gt;&amp;ldquo;Putting two boats into the Grand Finals at Youth Nationals was a tremendous achievement. Every boat at the event had placed top three in their regional qualifier and it was remarkable to watch Capital City Rowing beat some of the best boats in the country. &amp;rdquo; said Men&amp;rsquo;s Varsity Coach Dan Newman.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
Top crew teams from the Southeast competed at this two day regatta, a 2000 meter race course, in hopes of qualifying for a spot at the US Rowing National Youth Championships in Cincinnati, Ohio.&amp;nbsp; CCR won an invitation to this prestigious rowing competition in the men&amp;rsquo;s four and men&amp;rsquo;s lightweight eight events.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In the men&amp;rsquo;s four, winning gold and the SE Regional Championship were coxswain Andrew Becker and rowers Kenny Nickens, John Sweat, Jake Hadar, and Carson Jones.&amp;nbsp; Of these rowers, Lincoln High School senior Jake Hadar has been&amp;nbsp; recruited to row for the University of Wisconsin crew team Fall 2007.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; The men&amp;rsquo;s four placed first in their qualifying heat on Saturday with a time of 6:17.83 advancing to the finals to win their final race in 6:11.90. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The third men&amp;rsquo;s eight won gold in their race in a time of 6:09.04 to beat Orlando Area Rowing and Gainesville Area Rowing, also winning a SE Regional Championship title.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Coxswain for the third men&amp;rsquo;s eight was Amanda Weber with rowers William Ahnberg, Michael Sigrist, Steuart Brouwer, Richard Fuller, Sean Keenan, Nicholas Rogers, Evan Reynolds, and Chris Jones.&lt;br /&gt;

Also winning an invitation to the US Rowing National Youth Championship were the lightweight men&amp;rsquo;s eight.&amp;nbsp; Winning silver in their event with a time of 5:40.86 were coxswain Emily Massey and rowers James Crowley, Nathan Rillstone, Robbie Vezina, Justin Jarrett, Stephen Brady, Gennaro Scibelli, Jon Gluesenkamp, and Danny Moerland.&lt;br /&gt;

The second men&amp;rsquo;s eight won silver in their event finishing ahead of rival Atlanta Junior Rowing Association by almost four seconds with open water in 6:00.51 minutes.&amp;nbsp; The second men&amp;rsquo;s eight included coxswain James Yang and rowers Will Aubin, David Rodriguez-Fuentas, Josh McLawhorn, Zachery Shackleford, Frazier Chiles, Logan Brown, Adam Stephens, and Tyler Clayton.&lt;br /&gt;

CCR&amp;rsquo;s novice men&amp;rsquo;s eight won silver with a time of 6:15.36 beating Florida rival crew teams Plant High Rowing Association and Sarasota Crew.&amp;nbsp; The men&amp;rsquo;s novice eight included coxswain Holden Harrell and rowers Jacob Auerbach, Sam Walker, Logan Jester, Andrew Bartholomew, Harlan George, Ben Williamson, T. J. Kellogg, and Ben Randall.&lt;br /&gt;

The CCR women&amp;rsquo;s squad dominated in their heats and both the first and second women&amp;rsquo;s eight finished 4th overall for the southeastern region.&lt;br /&gt;

In the women&amp;rsquo;s first eight, coxswain Lindsey Laux and rowers Allie Wetteland, Hayley Langston, Christina Brady, Brianne Hadar, Jennifer Trowers, Ashley Franklin, Genevieve Tuveson, and Caroline Cooper won 2nd in their heat, 1st in their repechage and 4th overall in their final (6:30.80).&amp;nbsp; Chiles High School seniors Genevieve Tuveson and Ashley Franklin and Leon High School senior Allie Wetteland have been recruited to row in college.&amp;nbsp; Rowing this fall for Rollins Crew is Ashley Franklin, rowing for Stanford Crew is Genevieve Tuveson, and rowing for Alabama Crew is Allie Wetteland.&lt;br /&gt;

In the women&amp;rsquo;s second eight coxswain Dixie Folsom and rowers Morgan Hooks, Laura Cunningham, Sydney Phillips, Janice Gowan, Olivia Cooper, Onxy Cross, and Kelly Thiele won 1st in their heat and 4th overall in their final (6:59.38).&lt;br /&gt;

&amp;ldquo;Competing on this level in our first season with the success we had at Regionals testifies to the commitment of our athletes.&amp;nbsp; We are very excited about CCR and it&amp;rsquo;s future as a competitive countywide crew team,&amp;rdquo; said CCR head coach Dan Newman.&lt;br /&gt;

Also competing at the 2008 Southeast Regional Youth Championship and winning a spot at Scholastic Nationals were Alex Garvin and John Michael Willis, Maclay School Crew&amp;rsquo;s lightweight men&amp;rsquo;s double.&amp;nbsp; Rowing in the single scull event was Louie Wainwright.&amp;nbsp; Maclay&amp;rsquo;s lightweight double won third in their heat, first in their repechage, and 5th overall in their final with a time of 7:11.95.&amp;nbsp; Maclay&amp;rsquo;s single sculler won 6th in his heat with a time of 8:10.97.&lt;br /&gt;

According to Maclay School Crew head coach Yuval Peress, &amp;ldquo;We are very proud of our rowers and look forward to adding a four boat next year.&amp;nbsp; As a high school crew team, we have been very successful in the single and double races at States and Regionals and look forward to the future of crew at Maclay.&amp;rdquo;&lt;br /&gt;
